Kiarra – Mark Morris 2010 Senior

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting Kiarra and her mom for her class of 2010 senior portrait session. We met up at Bob’s in downtown Longview,WA since it’s a great place in the middle of the downtown area. We totally lucked out with the goregous weather today…I didn’t even need my sweater and that is major because I am always cold.:)

Kiarra is planning on going to college locally at LCC for two years and I am betting her mom is glad she will be close. We walked around downtown for her portrait session and then we went down to the banks of the river and the old Kelso Waterstation to get some more great photographs. I really enjoyed my time and hope Kiarra and her mom did too.

So here is the preview I promised…I love doing Senior Portraits because they love funky processing that makes the photos really stand out. Hope you like them feel free to leave a comment for Kiarra below the photos. Thanks.

Barlow Girl in Concert – Vancouver Washington Band Photographer

So here is Barlow Girl!

I have always wanted to see Barlow Girl in concert so I jumped at the chance last week while they were only an hour away down in Vancouver which just happens to be my hometown. They were awesome in concert and did not disappoint. I just wish it lasted longer…any my camera battery too! lol

I listen to Way FM on 90.3 FM and love to hear when cool bands and artists are making their way to the Pacific Northwest. I really enjoy photographing the bands while I am there listening…but I guess that’s what a lot of photographers do. My camera is pretty much connected to me 24/7. lol. To read more about the night go down to my first post on the concert to get the 411.:)Enjoy the photos because I sure enjoyed the show!

Stellar Kart in Concert – Vancouver, WA Musician Photographer

Sunday the 27th was a busy day for me but full of fun. I started the day with the “B” family which in all reality turned out to be the “R & B” family since the couple don’t share the same last name. (She must have liked hers more lol) As you can see in the post 2 below this one we went to Clatskanie, OR for their family session. Well Clatskanie is about a 20 minute drive from my house then we went to the little beach on the Columbia river across from Willow Grove in Longview,WA to end the session.

I had planned on going to this big concert that night but didn’t get a sitter for my kids till that day so it was all very quickly figured out what we were going to do. I rushed to Longview and got us food from Burger King and my hubby met me at Safeway in Kelso, WA to carpool down to Vancouver for the concert. It was all so unorganized I didn’t even know where the church was that we were driving to.:)I called my friend and fellow photographer Amanda when we hit Vancouver and she quickly googled the church and got us directions. Thanks Amanda! Well we were going to see Vota, Stellar Kart and Barlow Girl but because we were about 40 minutes late we missed Vota so that was a bummer. We did get there apparently right after Stellar Kart hit the stage and we went up to the balcony for a better view. I was so glad to have borrowed the 70-200 2.8 L lens from my brother for the concert and it worked out perfectly.

Unfortunately I went to start taking pictures of Stellar Kart and noticed my battery was blinking red. Oh no I thought how can this be? I have NEVER ran out of battery power…not even through 6 hour weddings. Well I remembered that batteries drain much faster when out in the cold and since I was out in the 60 degree weather the 3 hours before, that is what caused it. I was so bummed…I only snapped like 7 pics of Stellar Kart because I wanted to save some juice for Barlow Girl. Stellar Kart was awesome and I had wished I had my 7 year old with me because they sing her favorite song: You got me and Jesus.

Well here is one photo of the Band. Hope you enjoy it! Barlow Girl pictures to follow. Thanks for reading!

8 of 52 – Friends – 52 Week Photography Challenge

So here is last weeks 52 week challenge photograph. I am glad I am able to take the photos even if I am not able to post them by Friday each week. lol. This is fun and if you haven’t tried it yet you should. Challenging yourself is great and gets the juices flowing. Perhaps next year I will choose one topic to span 52 weeks to be more cohesive. Maybe not.:)

This lovely lady with me is Erika Green. Erika is funny and always has a smile on her face. We have known eachother for only a few months but it feels like forever. In a good way of coarse.:)Erika is also a photographer in the Longview / Kelso area and has been in the biz for I think 8 years now. We enjoy networking with other photographers in the area and try to meet up once a month. We are friendly competition and it works out great for all of us! We all have different styles and it is by style you should choose your photographer not over price. You can always make more money later you can’t always make new pictures later. Especially when talking about newborn sessions, Senior sessions and Wedding sessions. It is fun to meet up and talk over coffee or tea…tea for me but I am sure you knew that already. lol. I enjoy getting to know all of these photographers on a personal level and truly enjoy our friendships. Just because we have the same career choice doesn’t mean we can’t be friends. I love that about all of my local peeps. It is also fun to be able to talk shop and camera talk to someone who actually gets it.

So here is a shoutout to all of my local peeps! Lets meet up again soon and you all know I will be the model anyday!:)

The “B” Family – Clatskanie Family Photographer

Sunday I got to meet up with the wonderful “B” family. They heard about me through the “N” family in December and loved my work so they hired me as their family photographer. I was glad and honored to do the job and do it good!:)

Mr. “B” – Jason- went to school and grew up over in Clatskanie OR and wanted to have that be a part of their session so I gladly made the drive over. We got some great photographs over at the Middle/High school first and then headed down to Mayger beach. Not sure if I spelled that right.:)It is right across from Longviews Willow Grove and you could see and hear people across the river playing. There was an old run down building that he believed used to be a cannery but was blocked off from the public for safety reasons. Trust me it definately looked unsafe or I would have been all over it.:)It made for a nice backdrop in the photos anyways.

Little Thatcher didn’t want to be held much once we got to the sand….after I was happy with what I had gotten we let him down to play….he was just amazed at the sand…feeling it and eventually tasting it…which he didn’t seem to like in the end. I tried to stop him but failed….but got a great picture of his reaction afterwards and it wasn’t a happy one. I never said the Columbia River tasted good. Ha! He was great through the whole session, well as great as we can expect a 13 month old to be.:)His smile was so cute and warmed my heart.

We put him in the car to warm up and shot some couple shots since the last time they had any taken was in Vegas when they got married and the quality wasn’t there.

I can’t wait to show you the rest Betsy and thanks for choosing me as your Longview family photographer! Comments are welcomed below!:)
