8 of 52 – Friends – 52 Week Photography Challenge

So here is last weeks 52 week challenge photograph. I am glad I am able to take the photos even if I am not able to post them by Friday each week. lol. This is fun and if you haven’t tried it yet you should. Challenging yourself is great and gets the juices flowing. Perhaps next year I will choose one topic to span 52 weeks to be more cohesive. Maybe not.:)

This lovely lady with me is Erika Green. Erika is funny and always has a smile on her face. We have known eachother for only a few months but it feels like forever. In a good way of coarse.:)Erika is also a photographer in the Longview / Kelso area and has been in the biz for I think 8 years now. We enjoy networking with other photographers in the area and try to meet up once a month. We are friendly competition and it works out great for all of us! We all have different styles and it is by style you should choose your photographer not over price. You can always make more money later you can’t always make new pictures later. Especially when talking about newborn sessions, Senior sessions and Wedding sessions. It is fun to meet up and talk over coffee or tea…tea for me but I am sure you knew that already. lol. I enjoy getting to know all of these photographers on a personal level and truly enjoy our friendships. Just because we have the same career choice doesn’t mean we can’t be friends. I love that about all of my local peeps. It is also fun to be able to talk shop and camera talk to someone who actually gets it.

So here is a shoutout to all of my local peeps! Lets meet up again soon and you all know I will be the model anyday!:)

The “B” Family – Clatskanie Family Photographer

Sunday I got to meet up with the wonderful “B” family. They heard about me through the “N” family in December and loved my work so they hired me as their family photographer. I was glad and honored to do the job and do it good!:)

Mr. “B” – Jason- went to school and grew up over in Clatskanie OR and wanted to have that be a part of their session so I gladly made the drive over. We got some great photographs over at the Middle/High school first and then headed down to Mayger beach. Not sure if I spelled that right.:)It is right across from Longviews Willow Grove and you could see and hear people across the river playing. There was an old run down building that he believed used to be a cannery but was blocked off from the public for safety reasons. Trust me it definately looked unsafe or I would have been all over it.:)It made for a nice backdrop in the photos anyways.

Little Thatcher didn’t want to be held much once we got to the sand….after I was happy with what I had gotten we let him down to play….he was just amazed at the sand…feeling it and eventually tasting it…which he didn’t seem to like in the end. I tried to stop him but failed….but got a great picture of his reaction afterwards and it wasn’t a happy one. I never said the Columbia River tasted good. Ha! He was great through the whole session, well as great as we can expect a 13 month old to be.:)His smile was so cute and warmed my heart.

We put him in the car to warm up and shot some couple shots since the last time they had any taken was in Vegas when they got married and the quality wasn’t there.

I can’t wait to show you the rest Betsy and thanks for choosing me as your Longview family photographer! Comments are welcomed below!:)

James + Michelle = Surprise Wedding! – Vancouver WA Photographer

Saturday started like most Saturdays around my house. Everyone was slowly waking up and Adam’s cell phone rang…I hurried to it but missed the call. I noticed it was my ex mother in law who had called so I went to find my cell phone to call her back but my phone was dead. I plugged it in to charge and the house phone rang. I picked it up only to hear that my ex sister in law and her fiance decided to get married…today! The ceremony was to start at 1pm down in Vancouver,WA and it was already 10am and I was an hour away. Apparently they had tried to get a hold of us the night before but my cell phone was in a different room and then I went to bed early too so we had no idea. I was so excited not only that she was getting married but to have been asked to be her Wedding Photographer too. We hurried up and got the boys ready and out the door we went. The ceremony was held at a nice gazebo down on Officers Row at Ft. Vancouver. It is such a lovely place to get married especially considering James is in the military.

It was grey out and a little bit chilly but it didn’t rain on us and for that we were very thankful. Everyone crowded into the gazebo and enjoyed watching James and Michelle express their love for eachother and promise eachother for better and for worse. It was beautiful and intimate just like I like them.

After the ceremony and when people started leaving we went and took their photos together on Officers Row. A very romantic place with the old houses and the whole feel to the area. After about an hour we were done and a bunch of us headed over to Jantzen Beach OR and ate lunch at BJ’s restaurant and it was good. You definately get your moneys worth at that place and a kids meal can feed at least 3 young kids at once. I loved it!

Congratulations you guys! We love you and are so happy for you two! I am so glad you were finally able to get a hold of me and we made it down in time.

Enjoy your preview and share it will all the family!

Like Mother Like Daughter

My sweet little Kiana is turning 7 in under 16 days from now. She is growing so quickly I miss her pudgy little baby cheeks I used to squeeze and squish to make her smile. Kiana loves to take photographs of anything and everything that moves. Kiana has become quite the little photographer and enjoys taking self portraits and videos when I allow her my little camera. I just watch them and laugh later she cracks me up dancing and talking to the camera. Perhaps one day she will also enjoy being a photographer but only time will tell. It would be fun to share such a passion for photography but I will wait and see what time brings.

Here she is taking a couple pictures of my dad while he came over to visit. I would love to show the pics that she took but the turkey butt deleted them probably to take more pics. lol. Kids.

7 of 52 – Out – 52 Week Photography Challenge

Here is Zeke who is my youngest of three children. He loves to climb, he loves holding on and squishing your ears, he loves keychains and he love cartoons. Something he really loves is climbing up on your chair with you when you are at the computer.:)Well Adam was out in the family room and Zeke must have gotten bored and climbed up on my posing stool…the next thing we knew he was passed out all curled up like a newborn. With me being the photographer that I am I had Adam hold up a backdrop and I snapped away. The little guy didn’t even flinch as the flash went off. We then carried him to bed and he slept wonderfully till late morning.
